Taxation for registered companies (Canada Revenue)

Whether you register with the federal or provincial government will have a serious impact on your revenues and earnings.

This workshop shares information about the fiscal responsibilities of companies registered at the federal or provincial level, as well as how this status impacts revenues and earnings. An informative session delivered by representatives from Revenu du Québec and Canada Revenu.

Incorporating your business ($)

Who is this for?
This workshop is for entrepreneurs wishing to incorporate their company with Registraire des entreprises du Québec, in conformity with Loi sur les sociétés par actions du Québec.

Objectives

  • Understand the legal implications of incorporation
  • Create a legal structure that enables you to secure financing and issue shares to shareholders
  • Learn how to sell your business in the future in full legal conformity
  • Benefit from a group rate

How does it work?

Before the workshop
Payment must be received at least three weeks before the workshop begins. You must begin the incorporation process with the government beforehand in order to validate the name of your business. The goal is to complete the process during the workshop.

During the workshop
Arrive at SAJE at 9 A.M. and you'll leave in the afternoon with:
- Your government incorporation request completed
- Your corporate minute book, outlining:

  • Corporate regulations;
  • Organizational resolutions;
  • Stock issuance;
  • Administrative mandate;
  • Declaration of expenses;
  • Company registry;
  • How stock certificates will be printed.

Cost * : $950 + taxes ($1092.26), including corporate minute book and government fees ($308)

* Payment must be received at least three weeks before the workshop starts. Once the payment has been made, a lawyer will begin the incorporation process with the government to validate the name of your company. The incorporation process will be completed during the workshop. The government fee of $308 to secure your company name cannot be reimbursed.

Your registration and company name will be processed once payment has been received.

Shareholder agreement ($)

Are you in a partnership? Consider creating a shareholder agreement, which will help prevent various issues, including if the partner relationship deteriorates or if one of the partners must step down because of illness, personal bankruptcy, death, etc.

Who is this for?
All entrepreneurs who want to draft an agreement for shareholders.

Objectives

  • Create a contract to determine how company shares will work, as well as the relationship between shareholders and their relationship to the company;
  • Understand why this contract is the best tool for preventing conflicts and establishing methods for dealing with problems that may eventually arise;
  • Determine the nature and range of influence that shareholders will have over the company's administration, operations and financing, as well as the monetary benefits they will derive from the company;
  • Proactively address certain administrative (voting, decision-making), operational and financing questions that may be a source of conflict in the future;
  • The shareholder agreement is a crucial contract to sign when two or more persons create a partnership to start a business. It can help avoid certain problems down the line should the partner relationship become less cordial over time or should a partner have to bow out due to sickness, personal bankruptcy, death, etc.;

Read and analyze the basic agreement template that SAJE will send you by email. You must also reflect on which items should be added or modified.

During the workshop

The goal of this workshop is to help participants understand which arguments bankers, financial consultants or any other lenders will use when refusing credit. It is also designed to help you understand the relationship between your personal finances and your company's credit file and, if necessary, simple things you can do to improve your chances of getting a loan.

This workshop will enable you to meet leading financial experts in Montreal. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from experts from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), Centre Financiers Desjardins (CFE) and one of the big charter banks. These experts will talk about the various services and funds that are available to young entrepreneurs and explain the main criteria considered in the decision-making process.

A great way to learn about the special financing available for economic development! Whether it be Fonds Locaux d'Investissement (FLI), or other sources of financing such as FCJE, you'll obtain all the information you need about CLD and CDEC program eligibility and requirements for other major financing sources on the island of Montreal.

How to create and manage your Facebook page ($)

This workshop will allow you to know the necessary steps to create and manage your Facebook page. You will also be able to understand all the different ways to use Facebook as a powerful communication and marketing tool to build and nurture a direct relationship with your customers.

Who is it for?
This is for the self employed, entrepreneurs and non profit organizations that are beginners with the use of Facebook as a marketing and communication tool. It is for people who need a practical training to help them create and manage their Facebook page.
